The BARC Yorkshire Centre runs Harewood Hillclimb, which is the longest speed hillclimb course in mainland UK. The venue hosts 12 events each year including 2 rounds of the prestigious MSA British Hillclimb Championship. Harewood offers unrivaled views of high speed motorsport action set against a backdrop of the beautiful Wharfedale valley. You can see most of the track from up on the hill, so the site is great for spectators. The track is a twisty 1440 meter tarmac track, with the latest single-seater racing cars reaching speeds of 130 mph on the back straight. A very tricky 90 degree right-hand bend finishes off the course, which often catches even the best drivers out.
There are a range of practice days, open days and hillclimb events to get involved in. Harewood also run a fantastic driving school, which are usually full day events and open to beginners. Thanks to Paul Wilson for the photos.
