This venue is a closed-road event that takes place on the B170 just outside Belfast, Northern Ireland. It is one of the oldest hill climb venues in the UK, the first event was held in 1913. Craigantlet is also the only venue in the British Hill Climb Championship to take place in Northern Ireland. The course is fast and technical and is a great destination for drivers and spectators.

HISTORY  One of the oldest motorsport venues in the UK. First run in 1913, the winner Harry Ferguson the great inventor, best remembered for tractor design, but also an early aviator and motor sport pioneer. In 1947, one of the 5 inaugural rounds of the British Hillclimb Championship, which continues to this day. The others Shelsley Walsh, Prescott, Bo’ness and Bouley Bay.

UNIQUE FEATURES  Craigantlet the only BHC round in the UK, that is held on closed public roads. One of the few motorsport venues in the World, held so close to the centre of a Capital City. The start line just 100 metres from the 30 mph speed limit on the Belmont Rd, as it enters East Belfast.

TYPE OF COURSE  1460 yds. Elevation 150m. Closed public road, using the B170, starting on the older Belmont Rd part, finishing out on the newer Ballymiscaw Rd section. A technical lower section through 3 tight corners to the chicane and cross roads, then a high speed blast through a very fast left and right to the finish on the main road.

THE FASTEST BHC ROUND  While the organising Club, the Ulster Automobile Club remember their long history, they also take pride in organising an event which allows todays very powerful purpose built single seater  Hill Climb cars to exploit their full potential, reaching speeds in excess of 150 mph on the upper stretches, of a wider course, than the other private parkland type venues.
