Description

Spa Francorcshamps is one of the most renowed and famous circuits in the world. Originally started in 1923, Jules de Thier, owner of the Liège newspaper La Meuse, was looking for a site to revive the La Meuse Cup, a car race that had been interrupted by World War I. Baron Joseph de Crawhez (burgomaster of Spa) and the racing-car driver Henri Langlois van Ophem, decided that the triangle formed by the routes 32, 23 and 440 connecting Spa-Francorchamps to Malmédy and Stavelot constituted an ideal circuit.

The rest was history and over a period of nearly 100 years, the circuit has evolved into a premier Grand Prix Circuit. It has hosted the Formula One World Championship since 1985 and operates 220 days of the year. There are also a number of club level series such as 750’s Club Enduro which race at the circuit and it continues to be a test and challenge for drivers all over the world.
