Castle Combe Rally Day
CASTLE COMBE RALLY DAY Race Collective spent an action-packed day at Castle Combe Circuit, soaking up the atmosphere and performance of some seriously impressive machinery
Race Collective get the occasional message from drivers, and we were excited by Ryleys enthusiasm for a chat. Ryley is in his rookie season of the Junior Saloon Championship; he’s just 14 years old and competes in a race spec Saxo VTR alongside a tough and competitive grid. Ryley plans to move up to professional Motorsport and is hungry for success.
Ryley has been involved in racing since he was 5 years old and quickly got the bug from his dads interest in Motorsport. “I got into motorsport at a young age of 4, my dad bought a kart and I really wanted a go after watching him race. He took me down to a local track and I instantly loved it and I knew I wanted to race myself.”
The very next racing season, Ryley’s dad bought him a Cadet kart and started out on track. “I started when I was 5-6, racing in the British Karting Championship and also my home championship at Stretton circuit.”
Ryley karted in various championships until he was 13 years old and then decided to go straight in to car racing. Ryley’s dad bought a Citroen Saxo and started preparing it for the Junior Saloon Championship. “I decided to join the JSCC because we had been to a few meetings to watch and the paddock was really friendly and welcoming and the racing was really close.”
Personally at the minute since i am new my only rival is myself i am always trying to better myself ready for next season.
We keep costs down by doing most of the in car work ourselves
The jscc championship run the saxo vtr so that was our choice of car for the championship
Since we got the car in november 2019 we have been doing different tasks ourself like seats and clearing the interior and most of engine work has been done by mechanics
Right now i have only competed in 2 jscc rounds because of my age we have competed at silverstone and donington and i really enjoyed both tracks.
But throughout my karting journey i have been to many of tracks but my favourites have to be Shenington or GYG

Mark – Digital Deadline
David – Damar-Yato Tools
Mainly my dad for always getting under the car and fixing it when something breaks and being able to get me to and from a race weekend. Also Hen Sharpe, he is always there to help us out and give me tips and tricks on how to get faster out on track. He also helps us get the car set up and ready for the next session when something goes wrong. A big thanks to my mum, grandma and everyone else for coming down to support me.
In the racing world one of my biggest inspirations would be Ayrton Senna. I believe that everything he said really had an impact on how I race today and that his aspiration and dedication to race is amazing.
